BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The spokeswoman for al-Iraqiya Bloc, led by Iyad Allawi, has said on Tuesday that the appointment of Culture Minister, Saadoun al-Dulaimy, as Acting Minister of Defense is a “circumvention” on the Agreements among leaders of the Political Blocs, apart from being “an individuality of power.”

“The assignment of Saadoun al-Dulaimy to occupy the post of Acting Defense Minister is a “circumvention” on the agreements among the Leaders of the Political Forces, reached in a recent meeting among them at the residence of the Iraqi President,” Maysoun al-Damaloujy told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Damaloujy also said that the decision “is an attempt by a Political Party to practice an individuality in power, through keeping away its Political partners from the decision-making process.”

She demanded Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, to “revise his decision, that would threaten the national unity of the country,” pointing out that her al-Iraqiya Coalition had presented its candidates for the Defense Minister’s post, “and we are waiting for the candidates of his National Coalition for the Defense Minister’s post.”

Prime Minister Maliki had decided early in the day to appoint his Culture Minister, Saadoun al-Dulaimy, for the post of Acting Defense Minister, according to the semi-official Al-Iraqiy TV Satellite Channel.
