BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Legislature of al-Iraqiya Coalition, Zuheir al-Aaraji, has announced on Sunday that a number of leading politicians, including President Jalal Talabani, Kurdistan President Masoud Barzani, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and al-Iraqiya Leader Iyad Allawi, “shall interfere soon to settle the current crisis about the formation of the National Council for Strategic Policies (NCSP) and the security cabinet posts.”

“Al-Iraqiya Coalition does not serve narrow-party interests, but strives to serve the general interest of the Iraqi people,” Aaraji told Aswat al-Iraq news agency, adding that “the forthcoming few days shall witness the personal interference by Talabani, Barzani, Allawi and Maliki, to settle the crisis of the NCSP and the security cabinet posts.”

Aaraji said that the leaders of different political blocs “shall hold a direct meeting, with the presence of the committees that carried out dialogues over the past few days.”

Al-Iraqiya Coalition had held a news conference on Friday, during which its Leader, Iyad Allawi, had described the dialogue with the State of Law, led by Maliki, as “waste of time,” threatening at the same time to withdraw from the political process if the Arbil Agreement, based on the initiative of Kurdistan President, Massoud Barzani, won’t be achieved.

Barzani had launched an initiative to settle the political crisis on 16/9/2010, comprising the formation of an 8-12-member committee, to start talks to settle the suspended differences among the political blocs.

Differences continue about the formation of the NCSP, scheduled to be chaired by Iyad Allawi, who demanded granting it broad authorities, rejected by the National Coalition.
